Kate Wilson was born Lynchburg, Va. to Tim and Kim Wilson. She is a photographer and goes to school at Longwood University. Wilson will get her Bachelor of Fine Arts in the Spring 2020. She has attended juried exhibition in Rustburg, Va. three times, Amherst Art show twice, and Central Virginia Community College Art show. These shows she earned second place, honorable mention, or people enjoyed her work. Last semester, Wilson took a photography class combined with an English class to create a magazine about the Prince Edward School closings. She attended the Moton Museum exhibition and Greenwood Library exhibition to show the magazine. Kate Wilson has experience with photography through volunteering for the Lynchburg Parks and Recreation as a photographer, wedding photographer, and camp photographer at Hat Creek Camp. She hopes to continue to grow in her artwork.
Tim Wilson encouraged her to continue her photography because he cares about his daughter. His hobby is photography and take her on his photography trips. He sees her talent. Kate Wilson is inspired by National Geographic, Times Magazine, Teen Vogue, YouTube, and visiting artists at her school. She hopes to be a photojournalist and tell a story with her work. Traveling with her dad helped encourage her curiosity with media.  She loves making videos. Kate enjoys observing cinemaphotographers in movies because one day she might want to achieve that goal. She would like to work for Times Magazine or National Geographic one day. Kate would like to make independent films and be a director or director of photography with her own projects. She would like to work for a company too.  Wilson enjoys exploring different types of photography, such as, fashion, nature, travel, experimental or portraits. A past project was video, and photography based on themes: searching for peace and acceptance, religion, relationships, and life more than anxiety and depression.  She is trying to create her own photography business.
